Spiced Apple Cake

Warm, moist and fresh out of the oven, homemade spiced apple cake is easy to make and impossible to pass up. Drizzle with caramel sauce or top with browned butter frosting for an undeniably decadent apple dessert.

Notes

Wet Ingredients:
4 lg Granny Smith Apples (Cored & Chopped with peeling left on)
1 stick of Butter - softened
1/2 C Walnut or Almond Oil
2 Lg Eggs
2-3 tsp Frontier Organic Pumpkin Pie Spice
2T+ Red Apple or Cinnamon Pear Balsamic
1 C Sugar (I used Coconut, Sucanat, or Rapadura)
1/2 C Maple Syrup
Dry Ingredients:
2 C Flour (I used organic whole wheat)
2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Sea Salt
Additional Ingredients:
1 C golden raisins (optional)
1 C Walnuts (optional)
1 Jar Sutter Buttes Salted Caramel Sauce
Pre Heat oven to 350 Degrees. Grease a 9 X 13 pan.
Combine Wet Ingredient (I use my food processor)
Combine Dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
Pour the Wet ingredients into the Dry Ingredients. Fold in raisins and nuts. Don't over stir. It will become tough.
Bake for 40-50 min.
Microwave an opened jar of Salted Caramel for 15 seconds and pour on the slightly cooled cake.
This is not a pretty cake, but very moist and jummy
Serve plain or with whipped or ice cream. Enjoy!!!
